There is something incredibly special about the feeling of coming home to East Texas. It’s a place where history runs deep, the community holds you close, and the many of the homes tell stories of generations past. If you’ve ever found yourself driving down a road in Smith County, lined with tall pine trees, looking at an old farmhouse or a beautifully restored historic property and wondering about the stories inside those walls, then you are exactly where you belong.
Welcome to The Tyler Home Collective-
This space has been living in my heart for a very long time. I have never tried blogging before - and honestly, I wasn't even really sure what that meant for the longest time! 🤪 so THIS is a brand-new adventure for me.
And here we go!
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of helping people buy and sell homes across Tyler, Whitehouse, Flint, Bullard and all over East Texas. But to me, real estate has never been about just closing a transaction or moving paper across a desk. It is about the deeply personal, sometimes messy, and always beautiful journey of finding where you belong. It’s about community, design, and the spaces that shape our lives. My dad was a builder in Longview where I grew up and my husband is a builder here in Tyler where we live, so I guess my love for all this is just part of who I am-
That is exactly why I created this collective. I wanted a place to share the true flavor of East Texas living—from our favorite local hidden gems and seasonal happenings around town to honest, stress-free real estate advice that you can actually use.
But also, I wanted a place to take you behind the scenes of a project that is incredibly near and dear to my heart.
Right now, my husband, Marcus, and I are in the middle of a long overdue, custom transformation on a home for ourselves, tucked away out in a quiet country neighborhood. And let me tell you, it has been quite a journey! The house itself is made up of two original 1920s structures that were actually moved from Bullard back in the 1970s and joined together on around 200 acres of his family land. We’ve owned it for decades, rented it out, and even sold it once or twice to buyers who ended up becoming lifelong friends. Now, it has come back to us, and we are completely restoring it to move into, ourselves.
Marcus, who is a long-standing local Builder, is doing the heavy lifting with his guys, and we are breathing new life into every square inch. We’re talking substantial new additions, beautiful stained wood- vaulted ceilings, a gorgeous dropped room with a sleek fireplace and home bar, (I'll tell you what we named our Bar later!) and custom details like the Sherwin Williams Naval paint color I picked for my island (finally 🤦♀️) mixed with printed quartz countertops with this warm amber veining in them that I am in love with!
It is a labor of love, and I can't wait to share the design updates, the chaos of making so many choices, and the fun we've had , with you right here.
Whether you are looking for fresh ideas on what to do in Tyler on the weekends, curious about how local market shifts affect your home's value, or just want to see how our 1920s hardwood floors turn out, (more coming on those later)
I am so glad you’re here-
